I'm afeared of all the DmC hate that might follow this submission, but I'm going to do it anyway. :/

I've been thinking about DmC, a lot, and I realized that my first reaction ["WTFWTFWTFHOLYSHITFUCKTHISISSOSCREWEDUP"] wasn't... wrong, but it was pretty hasty.

The more I thought about the new design for Dante, the more it made sense to me. I mean, when you were a young and angsty teen, didn't you do dumb things like smoke and be a douchebag? I know I was probably completely insufferable-- I even dyed my hair black, too. xD
It was a phase, and I grew up and grew out of it. But that time of my life was there, and it helped me grow up into the... moderately more mature person I am today. [Not by much though: you'll notice I'm still a douchebag. xD ]

Anyway: I think this new Dante has potential to be interesting for fans of the series. In the rest of the DMC series, Dante has always been a self-assured, very confident guy. [Read: "sexy oyaji", in Karaii-speak. xDDD ] I'm excited to see how far he's come from being a street punk. His design's grown on me, and there's a lot I'm curious about.

Ninja Theory has a good history as a game developer, overall, and even if we hate hate hate teenybopper!Dante's design, there are still other things to look forward to: new characters, excellent graphics, a new soundtrack, and hopefully some seriously epic gameplay.

So, all-in-all: DmC is going to be really, really different. Or maybe not. It's still ridiculously early to be making decisions based on one trailer, and I'm honestly just relieved that Capcom decided to do another installment of the series at all, even if it does look like a far cry from all the others.
Different isn't always bad, and it leaves a lot of room open for cool new possibilities. c:


tl;dr: Although I ragefaced over DmC at first, I'm now willing to give it a fair shot.
<sub>However, I will make fun of Dante's hair forever and ever. Ain't no changin' that.
